Helping universities achieve and maintain PCI DSS compliance

As payment by card for services sold becomes more common, the need for universities to be PCI DSS compliant is crucial.

Ultimately, failure to do so could result in fines and significant reputational damage to the institution.

However, we understand how challenging it can be for universities to achieve PCI DSS compliance. In our experience, it requires the coordination of multiple departments – for example, finance, IT, security and governance.

With everyone under pressure, this can be a major barrier to effective progress.

And if that wasn’t enough, the introduction of a significant new PCI DSS standard – PCI V4.0 – risks further complicating the situation.

We appreciate, with all of these issues to consider, that some universities end up doing nothing. But doing nothing is a really bad option. It puts in jeopardy both your students’ personal data and your reputation, not to mention risking fines and other sanctions from your bank.

There is a much better approach.

As a PCI Qualified Security Assessor Company (QSAC), Securious has experience helping hundreds of organisations reach and maintain PCI DSS compliance. Increasingly, we are working with institutions in education, including universities, and we recognise the particular issues they face.

We are also confident that with our facilitation and support, universities are capable of achieving the required level of PCI DSS compliance much more quickly and easily than they imagine.

Here’s a quote from Sarah Ascott from the University of Exeter, explaining the impact of our work:

“It’s been a pleasure working with Securious on our PCI compliance over the last few years. A longstanding relationship with a PCI QSAC that really understands our organisation makes the process of maintaining compliance so much easier.

“The team at Securious have been instrumental in helping us achieve compliance, facilitating the collaboration of different departments and helping identify where each responsibility sits.”

If you are a university looking to achieve or maintain PCI DSS compliance as painlessly as possible, we’re running a free webinar on 29th February at 12pm, where we’ll be talking through our learnings and advice for universities aiming for compliance.
