Securious recognised with Armed Forces Covenant Silver Award

Securious is proud to have been recognised with the Armed Forces Covenant Silver Award, acknowledging our ongoing commitment to supporting the Armed Forces community.

Military service has been part of the DNA of Securious from the very beginning. CEO Pete Woodward served in the RAF, while Operations Director Darren Grey spent seven years working for the Army in intelligence and security before volunteering as a Cadet training officer, where he and Pete first met.

The values developed through military life continue to shape the way we work today. Planning, teamwork, professionalism and the ability to stay calm under pressure are all qualities that transfer naturally into cyber security.

There is also a natural connection between military service and cyber security. Both are fundamentally about protection – understanding threats, planning ahead and helping to keep people, organisations and critical systems safe.

We also know firsthand that leaving the Armed Forces and building a civilian career can be challenging. That’s why we are committed to creating meaningful opportunities for veterans looking to transition into cyber security.

Working alongside SaluteMyJob, a social enterprise dedicated to connecting ex-military personnel with supportive employers, has been an important part of that journey. Through this partnership, we have welcomed veterans Dennis Opoku and Simon Bryant to the Securious team, where they have successfully transitioned into careers in cyber security.

Pete Woodward, CEO of Securious, said:

“I’ve always felt there is a natural link between the Armed Forces and cyber security. At their heart, both are about protecting others. The technology may be different, but the values of service, discipline and responsibility are the same. We’re proud to support veterans as they build careers in our industry, and we’re delighted that commitment has been recognised through the Armed Forces Covenant Silver Award.”

The Silver Award is recognition of something that has always mattered to us, and we look forward to continuing our work with organisations such as SaluteMyJob and creating further opportunities for veterans to build successful careers in cyber security.
