PCI and cyber security at the Cornwall Business Show

Securious team at Cornwall Business Show

Several members of the Securious team were delighted to fly the flag for PCI DSS Compliance and cyber security at the Cornwall Business Show, which took place on Thursday, 12th October at the Royal Cornwall Show Ground.

The Cornwall Business Show

In its eleventh year, the Cornwall Business Show is Cornwall’s leading B2B expo event and takes place at the Royal Cornwall Showground in Wadebridge. 100+ businesses and organisations were taking part, whether exhibiting, demonstrating, or running master classes.

As a leading supplier to organisations across Cornwall, it was a great opportunity for Securious to both support the regional economy and meet some new people and businesses from across Cornwall and the South West.

PCI Compliance for organisations in Cornwall

PCI DSS compliance and PCI V4 at Cornwall Show

At this year’s Cornwall Business Show, our CEO Pete Woodward, one of the country’s leading PCI authorities, explained the changes that are coming to PCI with the introduction of PCI V4.0 and what that means for organisations in Cornwall that take payment by card.

Any organiation that takes payment by card (whether credit or debit) needs to be Payment Card Industry Dara Security Standard (PCI DSS) compliant. Securious is the region’s only PCI Qualified Security Assessor (QSA) company, which means we are an independent security organisation that has been qualified by the PCI Security Standards Council to validate an organisation’s compliance with PCI DSS.

If you missed his session but would like to know more, you can read our Ultimate Guide to PCI Compliance here or sign up for Pete’s next free PCI V4.0 webinar here.

Cyber security for organisations in Cornwall

We were delighted to help spread the word about the importance of proactive cyber security to businesses and organisations across Cornwall from our stand at the event. Equipped with our shiny new ‘We’ve got your back’ merchandise, we had a lot of conversations, including some with business leaders who had realised too late how much of a priority this needs to be.

We were also pleased to have a stand directly opposite our friends at the South West Regional Cyber Crime Unit, who continue to do a fantastic job providing resources for organisations at the start of their journey and those directly affected by cyber crime.

For any businesses or organisations in Cornwall looking for help with cyber security accreditations from a local independent and long established company (including PCI DSS Compliance, Pen testing, ISO 27001, Cyber Essentials, Cyber Essentials Plus and more), please get in touch at info@securious.co.uk or fill out the contact form below.

Show time – it wasn’t all serious stuff!

We are happy to report that the day wasn’t entirely full of serious conversations, and plenty of fun was had too. Holly beat the other Securious team members on the Tolvern Solicitors basketball shootout competition, and all of us managed what can best be described as dismal attempts on the Regional Cyber Crime Unit’s Formula 1 racing car simulator.

Overall, it was a good day, and some great conversations took place. Thanks to the organisers, other exhibitors, and all the delegates who made it worthwhile.

Again, if you didn’t make it, or missed us there, but would like some help with your organisation’s PCI compliance, pen testing or cyber security accreditations, please get in touch via email at info@securious.co.uk, call us on 01392 247 110 or fill out the contact form below.
