Securious at the West Country Tourism Conference

Pete Woodward to Speak on Cyber Risk in the Tourism Sector

Securious will be speaking at this year’s West Country Tourism Conference, which is taking place on Tuesday 3rd and Wednesday 4th February 2026 at Westpoint, Exeter.

The two-day conference brings together tourism and hospitality professionals from across the South West to explore trends, share insights and build stronger visitor economy businesses.

Pete Woodward, Co-founder and CEO of Securious, will be delivering a short, high-impact session titled:

“One Hack, One Holiday Park, One Reputation Gone”

The talk is designed specifically for tourism operators, including holiday parks, accommodation providers and visitor attractions, and focuses on how cyber incidents affect businesses in real operational terms, not technical theory.

Why cyber security is a tourism issue

Tourism businesses increasingly rely on digital systems for bookings, payments, guest communications and day-to-day operations. At the same time, many organisations operate with seasonal staff, shared systems and limited IT support, particularly during peak periods.

This combination makes the sector an attractive target for cyber criminals, with incidents often occurring at the busiest and most disruptive times of year. When systems go down, the impact is immediate and visible – affecting guests, staff, revenue and reputation all at once.

Pete’s session explores why tourism businesses are being targeted and what that means in practice for operators on the ground.

A practical, non-technical session

The talk is intentionally non-salesy, short and accessible, aimed at business owners and managers rather than IT specialists. It draws on real experience working with tourism and hospitality organisations and is focused on awareness, decision-making and resilience, rather than fear or technical detail.

Attendees can expect a clear, engaging session that highlights the scale of the issue and why cyber security should be part of broader business risk planning in the tourism sector.
