Securious embarks on 165 mile virtual hike in support of Devon Air Ambulance
The Securious team will be taking a virtual walk across the county between August 1st and September 30th, adding up the steps we take every day to help raise lifesaving funds for Devon Air Ambulance, our charity partner, who are celebrating 30 years of service.
According to Devon Air Ambulance:
“Devon is a huge county with two epic coastlines, hundreds of villages, and acres of rural wilderness. But Devon’s geography can make getting the right emergency treatment to patients complicated.
“Sometimes people in need of urgent medical support cannot be reached by road so easily. At other times it would simply take too long to reach a patient by a land ambulance.
“Sometimes our paramedics or doctor might be delivered to scene and then travel with a patient to hospital by land ambulance. Where the best hospital for a patient’s needs is not the nearest one, our helicopters can get them to the right care in far less time.
“When every second counts, getting the specialist skills of our Critical Care Doctors and Paramedics to scene is paramount. Devon’s two emergency helicopters enable us to deliver expert critical care to patients wherever they may be.
“We also have two Critical Care Cars which operate when poor weather or essential maintenance prevents the aircraft from flying. These two emergency vehicles are adapted to contain all the same life-saving equipment as you would find on board our air ambulance and enable advanced critical care to arrive quickly by road.”
