Pete Woodward of Securious Limited and Peter Jones of DynamiQ were pleased to welcome the first members to the inaugural meeting of the South West Cyber Security Cluster on the 26th February at The Devon Hotel in Exeter.
The aim of the South West Cluster is to gather local stakeholders together to enable the South West to achieve a Cyber presence within the business community. Membership is primarily aimed at small and medium-sized companies actively working in or alongside cyber security sectors, whilst acknowledging the need for collaboration with local and central government, larger employers in the region, universities and schools.
New members had the opportunity to give a short presentation to introduce themselves and explain their interest within the cyber security sector.
The Cluster was pleased to welcome representatives from:
Devon and Cornwall Police who spoke about how cybercrime plays a part within their crime prevention strategy.
Plymouth University, Faculty of Science and Environment who spoke about the importance of creating jobs and opportunities, and also creating a Centre of Excellence for Cyber Security based in the South West.
Representatives from several companies working within or alongside cyber security sectors gave short introductions about themselves and their current involvement within this sector.
