Supporting veterans into cyber security careers with Securious

At Securious, we know firsthand the challenges that ex-forces personnel face when transitioning into civilian careers. Our team is passionate about providing meaningful opportunities for veterans to channel their skills and expertise into cyber security – a field that benefits immensely from the values and discipline ingrained in military life.

Because of this, we were delighted to welcome Andrew Jackson, Managing Director of SaluteMyJob Ltd, to the Exeter Science Park last month for a day of filming.

SaluteMyJob, a social enterprise with a mission close to our hearts at Securious, is committed to fostering stronger connections between ex-military individuals and supportive employers. They provide comprehensive ex-military recruitment services to bridge the gap between the unique skills and experiences of soldiers, sailors, and airmen and the needs of various organisations.

Thanks to SaluteMyJob, we’ve welcomed two new cyber security consultants to the Securious team: Dennis Opoku and Simon Bryant. Both Dennis and Simon have made a seamless transition from military service to cyber security and are already making an impact within our technical team.

During the filming, Andrew sat down with Dennis and Simon to discuss their personal journeys from military life to the commercial world. They shared their challenges, experiences, and the valuable skills they bring from their military backgrounds into a business environment.

In addition, our own co-founder and CEO, Pete Woodward, and Operations Director, Darren Grey—both ex-military themselves—joined Andrew to reflect on their experiences of transitioning into civilian life and building successful careers in cyber security.

In the video below, we share our journey as a company, how our military roots have shaped our approach, and the success stories of veterans who’ve become integral to our team.
