SW Cyber Security Cluster meeting – Plymouth University 23rd April
Plymouth University very kindly hosted the South West Cyber Security Cluster meeting in the Rolle building.
Professors Kevin Jones and Steven Furnell gave the cluster group an overview of the impressive facilities, research knowledge base, along with the academic resource available at Plymouth University.
Considering this is only our second meeting, we have the makings of something great emerging from the South West in terms of Cyber Security expertise.
The South West Cyber Security Cluster (SWCSC) is a collaboration of organisations, actively engaged in the cyber security and IT industries.
We are a member of the UK Cyber Security Forum and our collaborative includes Plymouth University, Devon and Cornwall Constabulary, local businesses and enterprises from across Devon and Cornwall. We embrace the wide ranging expertise and specialities of our members, to deliver the collective mission of driving greater cyber security skills and awareness across all business and industry sectors throughout the region.
Our vision is to establish a ‘Centre for Cyber Excellence’ in the South West. A Centre that would be a genuine reference point for cyber best practice, not just for the region, but also nationally – attracting commercial resources and investment to the Centre and the region, ensuring real and tangible social value whilst helping to safeguard local people, local businesses and local communities.
